Guardian Rumour Mill

With Dean Henderson sidelined and the transfer window inching inexorably shut, Nottingham Forest are eager to sign a replacement goalkeeper on loan. A peripheral figure at Paris Saint-Germain these days, Keylor Navas has been identified as their main target. A three-times Champions League winner with Real Madrid, the Costa Rica international plays second fiddle to Gianluigi Donnarumma at PSG and has yet to start a Ligue 1 or Champions League game for the French club this season.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers wants to freshen up his squad and is ready to sanction a surprise move for Leeds United winger Jack Harrison, who has 18 months left on his contract and has also been linked with potential moves to Arsenal and Newcastle. Leicester are also hoping to bolster their back line by signing Harry Soutar, the Stoke City centre-half who was such a rock in the heart of Australia’s defence during the World Cup. Leicester have also been linked with Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, but will have to duke it out with Leeds if they are to land the Morocco international.

The word from Germany is that Liverpool are in the box-seat to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, despite strong interest in the midfielder from Manchester City and Real Madrid. Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg claims Jürgen Klopp is “pushing, pushing, pushing” to sign the 19-year-old, who might think twice about moving to Merseyside if Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Having already missed out on strikers Danny Ings, Kevin Schade and Georginio Rutter, getting their eyes wiped by West Ham, Brentford and Leeds respectively, managerless and rudderless Everton have had their loan move for Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma hijacked by Tottenham. Andy Hunter, our man on the Merseyside beat, reports that the former Bournemouth striker refused to submit his registration to the Goodison Park HR department, despite agreeing a move and posing for media shots in his Everton finery over the weekend. He will instead be unveiled as a beaming loanee at White Hart Lane shortly.

In other frustrating news for Evertonians, Anthony Gordon looks hell-bent on moving to Newcastle although Eddie Howe was predictably coy when quizzed about the winger’s situation on Tuesday night.

Celtic striker Giorgios Giakoumakis could be heading stateside, with MLS side Atlanta United reported to be in talks with the Scottish champions with a view to bringing him to the Mercedes Benz Stadium as their designated player. Sleep-deprived transfer boffin Fabrizio Romano reports Atlanta have emerged as late contenders to sign the Greek, who had looked to be on his way to Japan to play for Urawa Red Diamonds. The newshound also reports that Brighton have made an opening bid of around £10m for Shakhtar Donetsk central defender Mykola Matvienko, but will have to increase their offer to have any chance of landing the 26-year-old.

West Ham United bid rejected for ‘next Neymar’ Marcos Leonardo after Arsenal links

Olly Dawes

West Ham United want Marcos Leonardo but have failed with their first offer to sign the Santos wonderkid amid comparisons to Neymar.

The Hammers have already signed one striker this month with Danny Ings arriving from Aston Villa.

Yet with Ings picking up an injury on his debut against Everton over the weekend, West Ham may go back into the market again.

90Min now claim that West Ham have had a loan offer rejected for Santos talent Marcos Leonardo.

It’s stated that West Ham offered a loan with option to buy but Santos are not willing to sanction such a move.

Maybe if West Ham come back in with a straight cash offer, they will stand a better chance of luring Marcos Leonardo to East London.

As things stand, West Ham won’t be adding to their Brazilian contingent after recently signing Sao Paulo defender Luizao.

Who is West Ham United target Marcos Leonardo?

Marcos Leonardo joined the Santos ranks at the age of just 11 and has been on a path to stardom ever since.

The striker signed his first professional contract in October 2019, aged just 16.

Now 19, Marcos Leonardo has racked up 122 first-team appearances for Santos and has smashed 34 goals.

The teenager hit 21 goals in 2022 and has catapulted himself onto the radar of many clubs.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with Marcos Leonardo in recent months.

West Ham are now trying their luck but will have to come back with a better offer to secure his signature.

Branded the ‘next Neymar’, Marcos Leonardo has told The Mirror that he wants a Premier League move in the future.

The striker is now a name for West Ham fans to keep tabs on in the coming days with an exciting deal wanted.

AFC Bournemouth agree deal with West Ham for Darren Randolph

Cherries have agreed a deal for West Ham back-up goalkeeper Darren Randolph, the Daily Echo understands.

35-year-old Randolph has entered the last six months of this contract at the London Stadium, with Cherries interested in bringing the former Republic of Ireland international into their goalkeeping stable to add depth.

Youngster Cameron Plain acted as deputy goalkeeper to Mark Travers during the absence of Neto due to injury, highlighting the need for further reinforcements in case of another injuries to either of Cherries' goalkeepers.

Travers and Randolph have worked together before, with the pair involved in numerous international squads for Ireland together.

A popular character in the dressing room, the experienced shot stopper would add depth to Cherries.

Since making his Premier League debut for Charlton in the 2006/07 season, Randolph has made 34 appearances in the top-flight, with 200 further games in the Championship.

He also was capped 50 times by Ireland, playing all four of their games at Euro 2016.

This campaign he has not made a single appearance in any competition for David Moyes' side.

Since rejoining West Ham in 2020, he has played just seven times, his last competitive appearance coming in a 3-1 win over West Brom in 2021.

Formose Mendy (Amiens) agrees with West Ham

In the sights of several clubs, Formose Mendy should finally join West Ham this winter. But be careful, because another English club is trying its luck in the file.

A few days ago, an interest from RC Lens and West Ham United was mentioned for Formose Mendy, under contract with Amiens Sporting Club until June 2025. And if the Sang et Or, currently runner-up to Paris Saint-Germain in French Ligue 1, had made good progress on the file with in particular an offer around eight million euros, the situation seems to have changed in recent hours.

The player prioritizes West Ham

With his excellent performances since his arrival in Amiens from Club Brugge in the summer of 2021, Formose Mendy has no shortage of suitors. Already last summer, Bologna, Hoffenheim or even Wolfsburg were tearing themselves up to secure their services. But the 22-year-old ultimately stayed in Picardy, and it looks like his future is now away from Italy or Germany.

Indeed, according to our information, it is West Ham who has signed up to offer the Senegalese international right-back. An agreement between the player's entourage and the Hammers has already been reached. Mistrust all the same for West Ham: Southampton has not said its last word and is negotiating directly with Amiens. Nevertheless, Formose Mendy prefers to join the residents of the London Stadium.
